Surgical tool materials mainly focus on their corrosion resistance, hardness, toughness and cost-effectiveness, and materials are selected based on their performance.
It is a metal material with iron as the main component, and chromium is mainly added to make the steel corrosion-resistant. A minimum chromium content of about 10% is required, but the addition of other chemical elements, such as nickel, copper or molybdenum, can further enhance corrosion resistance. Stainless steel corrosion can be generalized or localized, which is called pitting corrosion.
