Medical Grade Plastic Materials
Medical grade plastics are suitable for manufacturing medical products such as MRI housings, plastic syringes and prosthetics. Due to their biocompatibility, these plastics are particularly suitable for manufacturing medical parts that come into contact with the human circulatory system. They are also ductile, hard, precise and compatible with injection molding and 3D printing processes.

Medical Grade Plastic
Medical plastics are used to manufacture surgical gloves, syringes, infusion sets, medical bandages, dressings, straws, test tubes, etc. They play an important role in patient treatment, surgical procedures and medical research due to their light weight, corrosion resistance, easy processing, non-breakable, non-toxic and good water tightness.
The application of medical-grade plastics needs to consider factors such as biocompatibility, chemical stability, and heat resistance to ensure the safety and effectiveness of medical devices and consumables. At the same time, the recycling and environmental protection of medical-grade plastics also need to be paid attention to.
Types of Medical Grade Plastic
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC):
Applications: blood bags, various cannulas, catheters, tubes, artificial peritoneum, etc.
Features: low cost, wide range of applications, easy processing, good chemical resistance, but poor thermal stability.
Polycarbonate (PC):
Applications: hemodialysis filters, various housings, connectors, surgical tool handles, oxygen tanks, etc.
Features: good toughness, strength, rigidity, resistance to heat steam sterilization, and high transparency.
Polyethylene (PE):
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE): used for medical packaging and intravenous injection containers.
High-density polyethylene (HDPE): used for artificial urethra, artificial lungs, artificial trachea, etc.
Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE): used for artificial joints, etc.
Features: high chemical stability and good biocompatibility.
Polystyrene (PS):
Crystalline polystyrene: used for laboratory utensils, petri dishes, etc.
High-impact polystyrene: used for catheter plates, heart pumps, etc.
Features: low cost, low density, transparent, dimensionally stable, radiation resistant (sterilization).
Polypropylene (PP):
Applications: disposable syringes, connectors, straws, etc.
Features: non-toxic, odorless, good mechanical properties, chemical stability and heat resistance.
Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU):
Applications: medical catheters, oxygen masks, etc.
Features: transparency, high strength and tear resistance, chemical resistance and abrasion resistance.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE):
Applications: veins, cardiac membranes, endoscopes, etc.
Features: high crystallinity, low friction coefficient, good heat resistance, and high chemical stability.
